The scientists of the IMKI are part of several collaborative research initiatives:
RTG 2408 "Maladaptive processes across physiological barriers in chronic diseases"
Several IMKI scientists are part of the DFG Research Training Group 2408.
The research center "Center for Health and Medical Prevention" (CHaMP) connects the medical faculty with the entire OVGU - 67 scientists from eight faculties are founding members of the CHaMP.
The core topic of the research center is the eponymous prevention of widespread diseases, with personalized medicine being a central element. In the future, this precision medicine should make it possible to treat patients in a more targeted manner with tailor-made therapies and to fundamentally prevent diseases. For this ambitious project, scientists from various areas of the OVGU work closely together: in CHaMP, for example, representatives of molecular biology, inflammation research, biosensor technology, nanotechnology, high-resolution microscopy as well as materials and human sciences complement each other. A logical goal of the future work of CHaMP is therefore the qualification of interdisciplinary scientists. Doctoral students with a connection to the CHaMP should be supported by thesis committees and receive interdisciplinary double supervision. This is supplemented by courses, for example on the basics of scientific work, which are also intended to overcome existing "language barriers" between biology, medicine, the MINT area as well as economics and human sciences.
GC-I³ - Health Campus Immunology, Infectiology and Inflammation
In the GC-I³, participants from almost 30 institutes and clinics of the OVGU bundle their clinical and scientific expertise in the field of inflammatory medicine under the motto: "Understand inflammation - cure diseases".
